According to the child’s father, the girl is getting better, but cannot speak or walk by her self.
“She’s moving her hands so that’s a big step,” said Raul Trejo. “I‘ve always had hope even though other people told me different. I was never losing faith.”
Investigators said that Tiffany’s boyfriend, Christopher Rickerson, 22 is the one who beat the toddler.
An arrest warrant shows that the abuse happened in a house off Trail of Merlin Road near Garner October 24.
Rickerson told authorities that he was watching the child at the time when the girl hit her head on a dresser.
Rickerson is also accused of child abuse.
The couple may have tried to cover there assault according to investigators.
Many items have been confiscated from Rickerson’s home including drugs, a broken hairbrush, and the couples’ cellphones.
Rickerson’s mother, Chastity Brown, has also been charged in the case, accused of misleading investigators to cover for her son.
Investigators said the evidence found has provided critical information like other instances of Rickerson assaulting the 2-year-old and smoking methamphetamine.
To help take care of his daughter’s medical expenses Raul has recently picked up some temporary work.
“No parent should go through what I went through. It’s hard,” he said.
A GoFundMe page has set up by Raul and his family to help with transportation and the child’s medical care.
