Breaking News: Man Arrested For Beating Toddler To Death In Ft. Wayne
Last week a little boy in Indiana was beaten to death, and his mother’s boyfriend is under suspicion of murder.
The boy’s father, Lantz Garrett, comes from Warsaw and says he’s heartbroken about the incident.
Police say two-year-old Malakai Garrett was being taken care of by his mother’s boyfriend, Mitchell Vanryn, while his mom was at work.
Vanryn told police that he slapped the boy to wake him up from a nap.
Once his mom came home, they eventually took Malakai to the fire station, then he was brought to the hospital where he died.
The boy’s body was covered in severe bruises.
“It shouldn’t have happened to him and it shouldn’t happen to any other baby, and there are a lot of babies out there that have been failed,” Garrett said. “And that’s gonna be my point, there’s gonna be some type of change.”

Lantz Garrett said that he had filed several times to get the custody from his wife because he wanted to protect his son.
Vanryn will have to be in Allen County Court on Wednesday.
According to that autopsy, Malakai had severe bruising around his face as well as his internal organs, which were likely caused by punches.
