Young Engaged Couple Expecting Their First Child Killed In Horrific Head-On Collision
There was a crash on the west coast interstate in Florida that took the life of a newly engaged couple.
The couple, who were waiting for the birth of their first child, crashed on Interstate 75 near Tampa last Thursday night (November 23). One other person could not survive in the accident.
According to local news outlets, 24-year-old Lashay D. Waiters and 21-year-old Yvette R. Alexandre were slammed by a vehicle controlled by 21-year-old Justin Lakin.
The Florida Highway Patrol concluded that Lakin was responsible for the wreck because he was driving north in the southbound center lane of I-75.
Waiters and Alexandre were going home after having Thanksgiving dinner with a friend. They were planning to get engaged in October and become husband and wife officially in January 2019.
Authorities are not sure when Lakin began driving the wrong way on the interstate. The investigation is still ongoing, however, they do not find any influence of alcohol. Toxicology tests are still being carried out.
