Toddler Struck And Killed By Truck In Front Of Pregnant Mother
A toddler was killed on Monday morning in front of his pregnant mother, when a driverless truck rolled down a residential street in far northwest suburban Carpentersville.
The 2-year-old boy, Levi Cruz, was being dropped off at his grandmother’s home at about 9:45 a.m. by his mother, who is eight months pregnant.
The truck hit the toddler in the 1000-block of Deer Creek Road and kept going along the residential street until eventually ending up in a retention pond.
Police Officers spent hours at the location reconstructing the incident. Authorities were reluctant to comment about what happened, waiting to interview everyone involved.
The boy’s mother was hospitalized and had not spoken with police as yet.
