A popular microwave, sold at Kmart stores nationwide, has been recalled over fears it may catch fire.
In a recall notice posted on Competition and Consumer Commission website, the discount department store said they were recalling the Kambrook Essentials Microwave Oven 30L (KMO400) with production date code 833 to 1321 inclusive due to a potential component failure.
“The defect may result in a fire, potentially causing injury to consumers or damage to surrounding area,” the recall notice reads.
The affected microwaves were sold exclusively through Kmart Stores between 1 September 2008 – 1 September 2013.
People have been urged to immediately stop using the appliance and to unplug it from the socket outlet.
