Mother Arrested After Police Rescue 3-Year-Old Left In Hot Car

Police officers in Nashville, Tenn broke the glass of a car to rescue a 3-year-old girl that was left in a hot car at a Nashville mall.

Amira Rezk Thabet Rezk, said to be the child’s mother, has been charged with child endangerment and arrested.

The incident took place at One Hundred Oaks Mall last Wednesday afternoon when temperatures were reported at 87 degrees.

Police officers got a call at 4:30 p.m. about a child that left inside a car. 

Police officers arrived and tried several times to open the locked doors of the car before having to break the glass to rescue the child.

Officers said that the little girl inside the vehicle was dehydrated and in shock, but she was breathing. 

The child was then put in a patrol vehicle where she sat in front of the air vent and drank water. She sat there until medics arrived and transported her to Vanderbilt’s children’s hospital.

After waiting a number of minutes, police said that Rezk showed up. 

The woman allegedly told officers she had been gone for only five minutes and that she didn’t know that children couldn’t be left inside a car alone with no air conditioning and the windows rolled up.

Police checked security cameras and saw that Rezk’s vehicle had arrived at the mall at 4:19 p.m.

Rezk was taken into custody for child endangerment and has been booked into Metro Jail on a $3,000 bond.
