Children’s Jewelry Manufacturer Recalls Jewelry Due To Lead Standard Violation

Jewelry manufacturer, Things Remembered, have recalled their range of children’s silver bracelets and charm necklaces due to a lead standard violation.

The bracelets and necklaces have a clear surface coating which contain lead in excess of the allowable limit.

If ingested by young children, lead can be toxic and cause adverse health issues.

Roughly 6700 bracelets and 3300 necklaces (as well as 300 bracelets and 100 necklaces sold in Canada) are affected.

The bracelets and necklaces were sold exclusively at Things Remembered stores nationwide and also online during the period February 2015 through to June 2016, where it retailed for about $25.

The bracelets can be described as follows:

• They are 6 inches long
• Silver-plated
• It has 10 silver hearts and circle links
• A lobster claw clasp
• 1 silver heart-shaped charm

The necklaces can be described as follows:

• Gold plated
• It has a 13 inch box chain with a 2 inch extender
• A lobster claw closure
• It has 3 charms: a pink ice cream cone, a pink crystal cupcake and a gold plated tag with the word “SWEET” engraved on it.

 

To date, no injuries have been reported but consumers are asked to immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and request a full refund or a replacement gift of equal value (including shipping charges) from Things Remembered.
