Viral: Minutes Before Wedding, Bride Grabs Groom’s Shaky Hand, Realizes Truth About Man She’s Marrying
After months of preparation, your wedding day dawns. You excitedly prepare for the marriage ceremony, confident you know everything about the heart and character of the person you’re about to commit to for life.
Any engaged couple with a healthy view of reality (take off those rose-colored lenses, folks), might admit that on some level, at some point, hints of doubt about the decision to marry begin to creep in. We find ourselves maybe 98% sure we should marry this person, but what if we were wrong — what if we were making a huge mistake?
Moments before a North Carolina bride named Maggie Earwood walked down the aisle, she found out exactly what type of man she was marrying. Her soon-to-be-husband, U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Caleb Earwood, decided that before any ceremony could take place, there was one thing he needed to take care of.
He needed to pray with his soon-to-be wife. And he needed to do it now.
The heartfelt moment was captured by wedding photographer Dwayne Schmidt, who admitted he could barely keep his composure amid the weepy eyes and overwhelming love that poured out into the room. “As soon as their hands touched he started getting emotional,” Schmidt recalled of the scene.
Per wedding tradition, the couple refrained from looking at one another before the marriage ceremony. They grasped hands, facing away from each other with eyes closed, while Caleb Earwood asked for God’s blessing over their marriage.
“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will,” Caleb Earwood said in an interview with TODAY. “I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with, and the amazing family I was marrying into.”
The moment Maggie grabbed her groom’s hand, she knew exactly what type of marriage she was going in for. And her heart was absolutely bursting with joy.
“When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous,” Maggie recalled. “It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God.”
Maggie couldn’t hold back the tears that welled in her eyes, and neither could the wedding party. “There were no dry eyes in the room,” she said.
The photographer and the newlyweds never expected the stunning photo to become an internet sensation, but they certainly don’t mind that it did. “We’re thankful that our picture is able to bless so many people and touch that many hearts,” Caleb smiled.
“Rita and I just looked at each other and – kaboing …”
Viral: Rita Wilson’s Post to Husband Tom Hanks on 29th Wedding Anniversary has Fans Swooning over Marriage
It seems whenever you get online there’s a heartbreaking press release from one of your favorite celebrity couples. Sometimes it’s an ugly break up and others are amicable.
Finding a love that lasts in Hollywood is a rare and beautiful thing nowadays. That’s one of the reasons why it’s great to celebrate those relationships like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s.
On April 30, the couple celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. But this couple proved they’re in love just as much, if not more, than they were in 1988.
The couple first met on set while filming the sitcom Bosom Buddies for ABC in the early 1980s. Soon after, they worked together on the film Volunteers, along with John Candy.
“Rita and I just looked at each other and – kaboing – that was that. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied,” Hanks stated in an interview with GQ.
The two finally tied the knot on April 30, 1988. Hanks credited the success of their relationship to timing and maturity. He also believes their willingness to have a deep intimate connection plays a strong part.
“In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here,” Hanks said. “Not that marriage doesn’t come close to being hell in a handbasket sometimes. But we both know that no matter what, we’ll be with each other – and we’ll get through it.”
Over the years, the couple had worked hard to make family a priority for their children. Hanks had two from a previous marriage — his son, Colin and daughter, Elizabeth. He and Wilson have two sons, Chet and Truman.
Hanks credits Wilson for showing him what a real family should be after growing up in a broken home. “It’s a marvelous fabric to exist in,” he said.
Despite the tabloids seemingly always running a story that plays into gossip that the two were in turmoil, Wilson’s post on their anniversary proves just how strong their marriage still is.
She shared a touching photo of the two on her Instagram page with the following caption: “29 years of marriage! Thank you, God, for bringing me this man.”
Fans have been swooning over the adoring couple, who proved that long-lasting celebrity marriages really do still exist. “We learned the secret to happiness with each other a long time ago,” said Hanks, “and that’s always telling the truth.”
The truth seems really obvious to me, that these two shall be together until “death do us part.” Join us in wishing Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson a very Happy 29th Wedding Anniversary, with many blessings in the years to come!
