Toddler Killed By Heavy Farm Equipment
Police are currently investigating circumstances around the death of a young boy who was run over by a piece of heavy farm equipment on Thursday.
The incident occurred on a rural property – 120 kilometers west of Toronto, in the township of Woolwich, Ont.
Waterloo regional police say they were called to a family farm at 11:30 a.m.
Police confirmed that the child, who is said to have been between 2 and 3 years old, was playing outside when he encountered the piece of machinery. A neighbor said it is unclear as to how the boy came to be run over. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stg. John Nymann from the Waterloo regional police traffic services branch said:
“The family at this time is grieving, and frankly many of us emergency responders on the scene are parents ourselves. We can relate, and really appreciated the depth of the grief that the family is experiencing now.”
