Toddler Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle On Jackson’s East Side
An 18-month-old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle on Jackson’s east side on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The toddler had been playing on the grass at a residence in the 1900 block of Chapin Street at about 4:20 p.m. April 26, when she ran into the street in front of a Chrysler Pacifica, Jackson Police Lt. Adam Williams said.
The 26-year-old female driver was pulling away from the curb where her vehicle had been parallel parked, Williams said.
“She was parked there and went to pull out, didn’t see the kid was up on the grass,” he said. “(The child) ran right out.”
The child was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
There was no indication that the driver had been drinking or was otherwise impaired and as standard protocol she was taken
The investigation continues, police said.
