Toddler Dead After Falling Down Stairs
A 20-month-old girl died on Wednesday morning after reportedly falling down a staircase and suffering severe injuries.
Officers responded to the emergency room at McLaren Hospital – Oakland around 9:50 a.m. and spoke with the child’s Mom, who said the baby girl was in the care of her boyfriend at the time of the accident.
The 24-year-old boyfriend said he contacted his girlfriend immediately after the child fell. Upon her return, he was administering CPR to the baby at the bottom of the stairs. The woman then drove her daughter to McLaren for treatment.
The child was taken from McLaren Hospital to Royal Oak Beaumont, where she was pronounced dead.
When Officers arrived at the woman’s home, the boyfriend was still at the residence. He was transported by deputies to the Pontiac Substation where he spoke with detectives about what had happened.
The OCSO Forensic Science Lab also entered the home to process the scene.
An autopsy was performed on Thursday however the cause of death is still pending and the investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
