A six-year-old Massachusetts boy, Robbie Richardson, established himself as a highly vigilant enforcer of traffic rules and regulations when he called 9-1-1 on his own father for running a red light. In the 9-1-1 call on May 28th, Robbie explained the indiscretion to the dispatcher and even provided a description of the vehicle.

“My daddy went past a red light. He has a black truck…he was in a brand new car, my mommy’s car”.

During an interview with WHDH out of Boston, Robbie explained the rationale behind his call, “Yellow means slow, when it turns red, you stop. But my daddy DIDN’T stop.” Michael, Robbie’s father, tried explaining to his son that turning right on red was an exception to that rule, but his son was apparently unconvinced.

Michael sounded understandably flustered when his son handed him the phone with an officer on the line. He peppered the dispatcher with apologies regarding his son’s dialing of the emergency number. Despite the concerns his son had regarding his driving, Michael was not given a ticket.

The Quincy Police Department got such a kick out of the boy’s emergency call, they posted this audio recording on YouTube and linked to it on their Facebook page. It garnished numerous responses, including one offer, from the Newport Police Department in Oregon, for Robbie to join their team as a Junior Patrol Officer.

Since he’s such a stickler for the rules, it is no surprise that Robbie aspires to become a police officer when he grows up. He even patrols his own neighborhood in a Fisher-Price police car. While he might need a bit more training on the use of excessive discipline, he’s shown he’s committed to reaching his goal.
