3 January was a day that Starla Medlock and Jeannie Toomey will never forget. Their lifelong search for their mother ended on this day.

ABC News reported that the respectively 43- and 42-year-old sisters were born to a Thai mother and an American father. The father was in the Air Force and they met while he was serving in Vietnam.

They got married but divorced after just a few years. Their father, John Thompson, took custody of the daughters at that time and brought them to the United States with him. For years the sisters have been searching for their mother.

“We asked our dad a lot about our mom, and he never spoke ill of our mom to us,” Starla explained to ABC News. “He just said that she couldn’t speak English because she’s full-blooded Thai, and he said she thought since we were American and he was in the military, he could take better care of us and provide us a better life than she could.”

Recently, the sisters posted a photo of themselves as young girls on Facebook in an attempt to find their Mother. Starla received a message on Facebook on December 30, from their mother’s current husband and the rest was history.

Once they positively confirmed their identities, their mother Lani and her husband flew to Kansas City so the family could reunite.

Amazing!
