Off Duty Nurse out shopping helps to deliver a baby at a Target Store

Tanya St. Preux went into a store to pick up some goodies like she usually would — and left with a newborn.

The Georgia woman was busy shopping at her neighborhood Target this week when she went into labor. Luckily for her, off-duty nurse, Caris Lockwood happened to be there at the same time. And Lockwood just happens to be a labor and delivery nurse.

Right at the store’s entrance, Lockwood put her experience to work. And with the help of Target employees, she delivered Tanya’s baby: a healthy 7 lb., 10 oz. boy by the name of Maleek.

“Caris was God-sent and amazing. She was sweet and caring and exceeded everyone’s expectations. She went way over far and beyond,” those are the words that St. Preux said after the delivery, according to a statement from Piedmont Healthcare (the hospital where Lockwood works)

Piedmont Healthcare also shared the news on it’s Facebook page, stating

“An ordinary trip to Target quickly became extraordinary for Piedmont Atlanta Hospital labor and delivery nurse Caris Lockwood. Fellow shopper Tanya St. Preux went into active labor as she was shopping, so Caris jumped right in to deliver the 7-pound, 10-ounce healthy baby boy right there at the store’s entrance.

“Caris was God-sent and amazing. She was sweet and caring and exceeded everyone’s expectations. She went way over far and beyond,” Tanya said.

“I’m grateful to God she and her sweet baby boy were safe,” Lockwood told CNN. “It was a gift to me to be able to help.”

We commend the nurses and medical staff, as well as the Target team members, who jumped in to help a woman who delivered a baby in a Target store in Georgia,” Target spokeswoman Jenna Reck said in a statement to CNN. “We’re happy to hear that the mother and baby are doing well and wish them all the best.”

Midwife Leaves Halfway Through Hair Appointment To Deliver Baby

Halfway through getting her hair colored, a midwife learned the true essence of the saying when “nature calls”.

The woman got a call from a client who went into labor just as her stylist finished foiling her hair.

Midwife Carrie Hall, shared a photo of herself in scrubs cuddling the newborn, with her hair halfway done.

1st time for everything!” Hall said with the photo, which was posted to her nursing school’s Facebook page. “Thought I’d share! I was at the salon and nature called!”

The post has gone viral and received many comments from users concerned about the condition of her hair.

Hall later shared that she arrived just in time for the expectant mother to push the baby out, and she was back in the salon in less than 20 minutes!

“I then got back in my car, went back to the shop and finished my hair,” Hall said. “Needless to say, momma, baby and my hair are great!”

What a tale to tell!
