A mother and father from Columbia, SC have been charged with the death of their infant child.
Columbia police and EMS reportedly found 3-month old Safarii Taylor unresponsive at a home on the 2500 block of Cherry Street on February 21.
Safarii was pronounced dead at the scene from neglect and positional asphyxiation.
Kiera Dominique McClinton, 26, has been charged with homicide by child abuse and unlawful neglect of a child; and Terance Taylor, 32, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child. McClinton and Taylor were both arrested Monday, McClinton at Columbia Police Headquarters and Taylor at a Walnut Street residence.
Medical documents indicate that the 3-month-old was not consistently given enough food or nutrition to grow or develop. Sleeping conditions were also reportedly unsafe for the baby.
