A Mom’s Trick For Unclogging Her Baby’s Nose Has People Impressed, Grossed Out, And Concerne
This Mother’s DIY hack has gone viral, with many people both impressed and grossed out by her method.
A blocked nose is no fun for our little ones (or us) for that matter.
But can this Mom’s DIY hack help unblock your baby’s clogged nose?
This is what she is insisting, as her DIY hack is going viral for one very effective (yet gross) reason.
If there’s one thing that I absolutely hate, it’s going to bed with a stuffy nose. That, and seeing my kids suffer during bedtime with their clogged up noses, too.
It’s not easy dealing with all the mucus constantly coming out of your nose while you’re trying to fall asleep is a true nightmare. All you want to do is get a little sleep yet your nose is not having it.
Thankfully, a mother has come up with a clever DIY hack which will help parents from all around the world sleep a little better at night, especially if they are suffering from the common cold or flu.
The hack includes a little salt water and one handy syringe that will suck the boogers right out from the brains. Yes, it sounds totally gross. But does it really work?
And should you do it at home? Here’s what you need to know.
This mom’s salt water DIY hack has fans and critics split!
Some parents let their children take hot baths or use Vicks to help get all of the snot out of their system. As a matter of fact, medical professionals suggest that you should raise “the pillow end of your child’s bed or cot by putting books or bricks under the legs, or placing a pillow under the mattress (although you shouldn’t put anything under the mattress of a baby younger than one year old).”
Mom Knows Best
From what we can tell in the video shared on Facebook, it appears as if the DIY hack actually works and what’s more, the little girl isn’t crying from pain.
Better yet, she even looks relieved that she can breath again!
As you can imagine, quite a few people had something to say about this DIY technique. While some were completely impressed, others were horrified that this mother would do something so dangerous to her baby daughter. One commenter said, “I have done this for years on myself. It works and it’s safe. Any doctor worth his salt (pun intended) will recommend sniffling in salt water – a warm salutation – to clear the sinuses,” while another said, “This is dangerous. That’s what Vicks is for.”
And then there’s this comment (which we totally DON’T recommend): “Our daughter struggled badly with a blocked nose when she was small and I have one two occasions sucked the snot out of her nose when she was struggling to breath. I would like to add that this did result in me being violently sick on both occasions.”
My take however is that I’ll rather always first call a professional when it comes to my children and their medical needs. Simply put, I’m not a doctor. I don’t have a medical degree. And half of the time, I really don’t know what the heck I am doing!
I’m not a doctor and I can’t make any diagnosis! I wouldn’t forgive myself if I did something which would cause pain, scars, or permanent damage. I’m pretty sure that a many of you out there would agree with me, too!
How do you feel about this hack? Would you shoot salt water up your baby’s nose?
