A Mom’s Stretch Marks Go Viral After Body-Shamers Say She Has ‘Too Many Children’
A Mom of 4 has shared photos of the stretch marks on her stomach in response to body-shamers who say she has too many children.
23-year-old Doreen Ching, from the Johor province of Malaysia, shared the images on her Facebook page fighting back at trolls who told her the scars are her fault for having four kids.
In her honest posts, Doreen shared about how she has accepted her body has changed after pregnancy and it will never return to how it looked before she gave birth to triplets and then a daughter.
Doreen started her post by opening up about her initial reaction to the stretch marks writing:
I received a lot of mummies’ inquiries asking me how to eliminate the scars as you’re gonna be scared… and that’s the price, even if you have money.
There’s no way to get rid of it, and it’s like, every day, every day, every day.
Only 21 at the time, I wondered how I would be able to accept my stomach looking like this for the rest of my life.
The first thing I did when I got out of the delivery room was to look at my stomach and my tears came out.
I was cracked up to a very serious kind of rupture and skin tissue was damaged.
Receiving more than 23,000 likes at time of writing (March 20), Doreen’s first post was flooded with comments from fellow mothers who sympathised with her experience.
However, although most people applauded the young Mom for sharing the truthful post, others body-shamed her leaving hurtful comments calling her ‘ugly’ and ‘disgusting’.
Sharing a photo of herself and her husband, Doreen hit back at the critics in a follow-up post, writing:
I see a lot of people commenting calling me ‘ugly’ and it makes me very sick so much so I want to throw up.
Some men said it was all the woman’s fault for wanting to have so many kids.
Do you have any respect for the women of the world? Your mother? Your wife? And a woman who can afford to have children?
The second post has so far received nearly 2,000 likes and further support from both men and women who have praised Doreen for shutting down the trolls.
I-Chen Lee commented:
You’re great. Those rotten people have only one mouth, and they should be miserable.
They will never understand the greatness of mother’s love, don’t be affected by them.
Cindy Shan also showed her support writing:
Yes, the world’s mother is the greatest. Don’t talk to those boring people.
The stomach is ours, my husband likes it. You’re good. And you are beautiful.
Jazemine Lim simply wrote:
Ignore them. People who don’t have a mind don’t bother. I’m just like you. I always tell the twins that this is the love you gave me.
Well done for being honest about your experiences, Doreen. It helps other Moms out there know that they’re not alone.
