This Mom Had A Severe Allergic Reaction To Lip Fillers And Shares Footage Of Her Oozing, Blisters
“I looked like something from a horror film”
In recent times, the likes of Kylie Jenner and other celebs have sent the popularity of lip fillers soaring.
But now a Mother has issued a very stark warning about the risks of cosmetic procedures; by sharing footage of her severe allergic reaction to fillers on Facebook.
Sally Roberts, who’s from Wrexham in North Wales, who filmed liquid oozing from blisters on her painfully cracked and swollen lips, was left in ‘absolute agony’ when she reacted badly to the procedure, which she says was carried out by a ‘qualified nurse in a reputable salon’.
Sally was rushed to A&E where she was put on steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-histamines and strong pain killers to fight the reaction.
She shared a video of the botched procedure on Facebook, Sally said in a post that she ‘loves’ Botox and had always wanted her lips done, but has now sworn off such procedures following her ‘massive eye-opener’.
She posted a video of what appears to be filler solution leaking out of her lips after having the cosmetic procedure done.
Her lips appear to be cracked and hugely swollen in the startling footage, with the mum comparing herself to ‘something from a horror film’.
Sally said that she’d had the procedure done by a qualified nurse in a ‘reputable’ salon, and initially, she’d suffered no ill-effects. However, the next morning things began to go wrong.
She wrote: ‘By the following morning they had swelled to the point I couldn’t eat, drink or talk properly and was in absolute agony, they continued to swell and GP advised me to go straight to A&E as I was at risk of going into anaphylactic shock.’
The most common lip fillers are said to be Juvederm and Vycross Juvederm, which contain hyaluronic acid.
Cheaper fillers such as Restylane contain crystals and can leave the lips looking lumpy and uneven.
She found out that she’d suffered an allergic reaction to the fillers and developed an infection.
She was put on strong pain killers and antibiotics to clear up the infection, which she says has now started to heal.
Sally then shared the post on her Facebook account to warn others of the dangers of cosmetic procedures.
She said: ‘This isn’t a post slating cosmetic surgery btw as I love Botox and have never had any reactions with that, and I’ve always really wanted my lips done… but this has been a massive eye opener for me, I looked like something out of a horror film…
‘There are more photos but not ones I’d share on here as I look like a crack head, my whole face was disfigured due to the swelling. So… if you’re thinking about lip fillers, be prepared for the possibility of a BAD reaction.
‘The last few days have been absolutely horrific, the infection has gone into my blood and made me really poorly.
‘You never think things like this will happen to you. NEVER AGAIN.’
