Big Mac gets a McMassive makeover! McDonald’s now sells a four-patty Double Big Mac with a whopping 720 calories and 43 grams of fat

McDonald’s is expanding its Big Mac offerings for a limited period from this Wednesday, doubling up on the number of meat patties in its latest product to give us the Double Big Mac.

The iconic burger is getting a new look this week as the fast food giant launches two new sandwiches on its limited menu: The Double Big Mac and the Little Mac.

The Double Big Mac follows the same format but adds an extra patty above and below the bun

The three different versions of the Big Mac will be available for a limited time from March 11

The Double Big Mac is a four-patty giant which keeps the Big Mac’s signature third sesaame seed bun in the center but throws in an extra patty both above and below.

Costing $5.49, the burger will also set you back a whopping 720 calories and contains 43 grams of fat compared to the 540 calories and 34 grams of fat in the original.

The Little Mac is very similar to a regular McDonald’s cheeseburger but the addition of the special Big Mac sauce gives it that little something extra.

The smaller version will be priced at $2.29 and contains 320 calories.

The original Big Mac will still be available for $3.99.

All burgers still follow the ingredients list that has made the Big Mac a favorite for decades: beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun.

‘The Big Mac is more than a burger—over the past 50 years it has become an international icon and a consistent favorite for our fans,’ said Linda VanGosen, vice president of Menu Innovation, in a press release.

‘From the perfect amount of our legendary Special Sauce, to the crunch of our crisp lettuce and the juiciness of our 100% pure beef patties, customers know and love the unmistakable flavor of the Big Mac. We’re excited to give them new ways to enjoy the burger they love and satisfy fan cravings of all sizes with three delicious Big Mac options.’

The Little Mac is like a McDonald’s cheeseburger but includes the Big Mac special sauce

The regular Big Mac will still be available and will remain priced at $3.99

And there may be even more Big Mac changes on the way.

‘While all cravings for the iconic sandwich are certainly worth celebrating, we’re not done with the Big Mac love just yet and can’t wait to show you what’s next,’ the company said.

This is not the first time that the fast food chain has changed up its Big Mac options.

In 2017 and 2018, they sold the Grand Mac which still used the two-patty, three-bun format but used bigger patties and buns to make it larger.

McDonald’s has been focusing on ramping up its breakfast menu as rivals improved their offerings but burgers continue to be a big hit with the chain’s fans.

CEO Chris Kempczinski said that premium burger offerings such as the Quarter Pounder remain a ‘standout performer’.

The Big Mac was first introduced into the Greater Pittsburgh area by McDonald’s in 1967 and joined the nationwide menu in 1968.

It is estimated that around 550 million Big Macs are sold each year in the United States alone.

The choose-your-size Double Mac and the Little Mac options will be available at participating restaurants from March 11.
