Man Murders Wife, Toddler Son And Infant Daughter
Police Say ‘Something must have snapped’: Man kills wife, toddler boy, and infant girl
Authorities in Tennessee have arrested a man after three people, including a woman and her two small children, were found dead in their north Clarksville home on Thursday morning last week.
Clarksville Now reports that 27-year-old Jordan Hazel was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on three counts of homicide. The man now remains behind bars without bond at this time.
According to a police report, Tennesee authorities were called to a home off of the 200 block of Mills Drive. The officials arrived to the residence at around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday where they found a woman and two small children deceased from gunshot wounds.
The victims have been identified as Keara Hazel, 23, Kayden Hazel, 3, and Jaylynn Hazel, 9 months.
On Thursday afternoon, Cindy Soliz, the mother of the suspect, found out that her two grandchildren and daugher-in-law had been killed. When she found out that her own son allegedly murdered his family, she claimed that he must have “snapped,” according to The Leaf-Chronicle.
“Something must have snapped in Jordan because he loved his kids and he loved his wife. They were loving. They were the best kids, the happiest babies, and Jordan was the best daddy.”
Soliz has not spoken to her son as yet, and stated that she didn’t know what would have caused him to snap.
Neighbors heard a woman screaming from the home and rushed over to help. They spotted Jordan Hazel and held him down until police arrived.
According to the police warrant, Jordan Hazel admitted to police that he shot and killed his family. So far, the motive still remains unclear. Soliz reiterated that her son was a good father that provided for his family and frequently bought his wife flowers.
In the meantime, loved ones of the victims have set up a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses. Donations should be made to the “Keara Hazel Children’ Burial Fund” and deposited at any F&M bank branch.
The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with any information on the crime or anyone with details about the family that’s relevant to the investigation should contact Detective McClintock at 931-648-0656, ext 5465, or call the TIPSLINE 931-645-8277.
Hazel’s first court date is marked as September 21.
Father Arrested After Son Accidentally Shoots Girl With Unsecured Gun
Police have confirmed that a 2-year old boy has accidentally shot a 4-year-old girl after the children were left alone in a vehicle with an unsecured firearm.
Police said that Isaiah Marshall Davis, 26, of Winchester, a woman, and three children were traveling from Winchester to Colonial Beach, when they stopped at a truck stop on the 9700 block of James Madison Highway in Opal, Virginia, on Friday night.
The adults got out of the vehicle, leaving the children inside unsupervised and unrestrained, police said.
The boy reportedly found the gun and accidentally shot the girl in the upper body, police said. A toddler, who was also in the car, was not injured.
A clerk at the truck stop told police that the woman brought the little girl inside the store, saying the child had been bitten by a dog. The clerk said that the woman took the child to the bathroom to clean her up with peroxide and Band-Aids.
Before authorities arrived, the woman and girl returned to the car and drove off. It wasn’t until reaching Colonial Beach that the child was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
Authorities arrested Davis and charged him with three counts of felony child abuse and neglect, reckless handling of a firearm as well as allowing children to access a firearm.
Davis was then taken to Northern Neck Regional Jail. Investigators said Davis is a convicted felon and wasn’t supposed to have a gun.
In Virginia, it is illegal in Virginia to leave a firearm unsecured in any way that could hurt a child under the age of 14.
