Man Arrested On Child Abuse Charge After Infant Suffers Hemorrhage And Cracked Ribs
A 23-year-old man have been arrested by Oklahoma police a on a charge of child abuse.
Court documents say that Carlos Ramirez confessed to police that he hit the head of a 3-month-old child in his care with his open hand more than five times.
Ramirez was caring for his own 1-month-old baby at the time, and trying to watch a soccer game when the victim would not stop crying, officers said.
He told investigators that when the child continued to cry, he had hit the infant with his open hand. He then apparently held his hands around the child’s stomach and squeezed and until he heard a “pop” sound in her rib area.
The 3-month-old was later taken to a nearby hospital where doctors said the baby had a subdural hemorrhage and acute fractures of four right ribs. Police said that the baby also had three left ribs with a possible liver laceration
Ramirez was apparently dating the child’s aunt. At first he told police that the infant was choking on formula and he had to perform CPR on the baby but then later confessed to the hideous crime.
