Julia Roberts’ Kids Are Not Fans Of Her Movies
Oscar Award winning actress Julia Roberts is responsible for some of the best movies ever made. Her popularity is wide-spread around the world making her a fan favorite to millions.
However, Julia Roberts’ children are not one of her biggest fans; well not when it comes to her movies anyway.
The Pretty Woman star has three children with husband Daniel Moder, 13-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 10-year-old Henry. She recently revealed that her children have very little interest in her films.
“I think one finds that one’s children aren’t necessarily interested in one’s filmography because perhaps one’s children want to go see Cars 3,” she revealed. In saying that however, she said that despite their previous disinterest in her work, the whole family is very excited about her upcoming role in the movie ‘Wonder’.
The film starts Roberts along with Owen Wilson and Room actor Jacob Tremblay and depicts the story of a child with Treacher Collins syndrome trying to fit in. The film was released on November 17th in the United States and has so far grossed $70 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.
Wonder is based on the 2012 novel of the same name by R.J Palacio and Roberts revealed that her family had read the book together. She said that she read the book out lout with her children, like her own father used to do with her. “My dad read to us before bed every night. I think it’s one of the great universal cuddle times,” she said.
“It’s a nice way to head into dreamland, with the sound of your parent’s voice,” said Julia, who believes that reading is a good way to strengthen the bond between parents and their children.
Roberts and Moder have been known to shield their children from the media circus that follows most celebrities around. Even claiming that her children weren’t really aware of what she did for a living until recently.
In a 2014 interview with The Express, the Notting Hill star spoke about her children saying “They still don’t know what I do for a living. That hasn’t really entered their life yet.” To millions Julia Robert might be America’s sweetheart, but to her children she’s just “Mom”.
However, now that her children are a little bit older they have become more aware of the life their mother leads, and like most children of that age, it’s no wonder they show little interest in their mom’s life.
Roberts made her first big screen debut in 1988 in the film Satisfaction starring Liam Neeson, however, she rose to world-wide fame after landing the lead role in the 1990’s classic Pretty Woman. She has gone on to star in other classics like My Best Friend’s Wedding, Charlie Wilson’s War and Erin Brockovich, for which she won the Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe Award and many other critics award for Best Actress.
Nowadays, Roberts said that she often turns down film roles because she wants to focus on her family. Here’s hoping she doesn’t go completely off the radar.
