The majority of preventable burn injuries happen in the home. Are you doing enough to keep your children safe?

Here are some tips that will help make your home safer when it comes to scalding burns:

  • Use the back burners on the stove and make sure all handles are turned towards the wall
  • Get an oven door lock
  • Adjust your geyser to make sure the water is at 120F (there’s a dial on the hot water heater)
  • Dress children appropriately for really cold weather, to prevent frost bite
  • Teach kids not to reach for things on the counter or to turn on the faucets
