A Father Is Being Interviewed by Police After Toddler Found Wandering Alone
A father is being interviewed by officials after his 3-year-old son was found wandering by himself near a supermarket in the North Hills area, L.A on Monday morning.
The child was located by a truck driver around 6 a.m. in the area of Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue.
Police previously said the boy was 2 years old before updating the age once the toddler’s cousin came forward and identified him.
The father allegedly woke up at 6 a.m. to get the child dressed; the man’s nephew was supposed to come to the residence and take the child to a clinic, where he would receive his immunization shots for school, say police.
However, the little boy managed to get out of the house alone somehow.
The boy reportedly took the same route he would normally take with his parents to get to a nearby supermarket, police said and it was there that the truck driver found the boy and notified authorities.
After the child was identified, his father reported to the police station where he is being interviewed. He has not yet been reunited with his son as yet.
The mother is currently in North Carolina, another police official said at the news conference.
Police say the boy has been reunited with other family members.
