Mother Jailed After Leaving Crying Toddler In Car While Partying At Nightclub

A young mother from West Texas was arrested for allegedly leaving her crying toddler in her vehicle, while she partied at a nightclub.

Odessa American  reported that Itzel Vazquez-Barrera, now 23, went to an Odessa nightclub on Tuesday, April 17, to celebrate her birthday. She allegedly left her 3-year-old son in the backseat of her Jeep.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene after they received reports of a child left in a vehicle without adult supervision. When they arrived at 11:01 p.m. they found the child crying in the vehicle.

Shortly after officers arrived, Vazquez-Barrera exited the establishment where she was arrested on the charge of abandoning or endangering a child. She was taken to Ector County Jail.

According to Dallas News, surveillance video showed the young mother dancing, drinking and taking selfies for about an hour, before leaving the nightclub.

Child Protective Services has been notified, and the child was released to a family member.

There is no information available on whether Vazquez-Barrera is out on bond.
