Mother Arrested After Leaving Child Home Alone

A woman from College Station has been arrested after she left her 5-year-old child home alone.
Police were called to the Rail Apartments in College Station on Friday night on a report that a young boy was chasing other kids with a large kitchen knife, while playing in the complex.
The boy was found inside his apartment, where police learned he had been left alone for 45 minutes.
Almost 3 hours after police arrived, the mother finally returned.
24-year-old Irene Martinez admitted to leaving her child without supervision.
She has been charged with child abandonment and child endangerment.
Child Protective Services is assisting in placing the child.
