If you are familiar with “The Crocodile Hunter” then you will remember Steve Irwin who tragically died in 2006 while filming a segment for his ever popular show.

Millions of fans mourned his passing and he is remembered daily for his fearlessness and abundance of energy, not to mention the Zoo in Queensland, Australia Zoo, Home of the Crocodile Hunter.

Steve’s wife and children have kept his memory living on by running the Zoo and his children are certainly following in their dad’s footsteps, with their love for wildlife.

November 15th is Steve Irwin Day and it is often used to celebrate not only the great man himself but it celebrates conservation and wildlife.

Growing up in the hub of wildlife activity in Australia, the Irwin family started a reptile park where eventually Steve and his wife Terri turned it into the Australia Zoo.

Bindi and Robert, Steve’s two children are very like their father in different ways. Bindi used to cook and surf with her father while Robert did the morning rounds at the zoo with him.

Judging by Bindi’s social media posts, it is fair to say that Steve’s spirit is most certainly living on through her. She regularly updates her Instagram with posts about wildlife and their zoo.

November 15th was no different for the 19-year-old who posted a glowing tribute to her late father. https://www.instagram.com/bindisueirwin/

“Today we remember all that Dad achieved for wildlife and wild places around the world. He taught me that we must all treat animals the way we wish to be treated. I think that his advice applies to both animals and people. In order to protect our planet, we must first learn to be kind in every part of life. If we are able to show kindness for each other we can be kind to our wildlife and in turn, our planet. I strive to encourage people to remember that conservation is not only about the cute and cuddly creatures, but also our crocodilians, snakes and sharks. We are all connected in some way.”

13-year-old Robert who was just short of three years old when his father passed away also paid tribute to “the greatest Wildlife Warrior, conservationist and dad on the planet.” http://https://www.instagram.com/robertirwinphotography/

Terri, Bindi and Robert have spent the last 11 years mourning their loss, but despite the heartache, they have strived to keep his family dream alive and they are definitely doing so with the success of the zoo.

In addition, the family will soon be back on our television screens as they are working on more television projects for Animal Planet.

There is absolutely no doubt Steve is looking after his family from above and he would be very proud of his children who have turned out really well.
