A couple in Troy. Mo. has been charged with abusing and neglecting their 11-month-old son, police say.

Police Officers reportedly found an 11-month-old with “substantial bruises, cuts to the head and face (and) human bite marks on his body” during a call to the 700 block of West Wood Street in Troy for an injured juvenile Saturday. This is according to a news release from Troy Police.

The baby had blood around his injuries, as well as blood coming from inside both ears and his nose. The infant ears and lips were discolored due to bruising.

The boy was taken to a St. Louis pediatric hospital via a medical helicopter.

He had to undergo emergency surgery Saturday afternoon to repair internal injuries in his mouth due to the trauma sustained, according to the release. The boy’s nose was broken, and both eardrums were ruptured.

The childs father, Brandon D. Johnson, told police that he had laid down on the living room couch with the child at about 11 p.m. Friday night, and fell asleep a few hours later with the boy lying between his left arm and chest, along the back of the couch.

“At that time, other than ‘maybe’ having a few ‘slight’ scratches on the backs of his hands (from the family cat), the infant had no apparent injuries,”according to the news release.

When Johnson woke up at about 5 a.m. he noticed that the baby was sitting up in the corner of the couch near his feet, according to the release. Both Johnson and the baby were covered in blood.

Johnson told police that his son had blood all over his face and hands, and looked to have a cut on the right side of his head. He used baby-wipes to clean the child off, and changed him out of the “blood soaked ‘onesie.’”

He said that he didn’t know what had caused the child’s injuries, and that he didn’t immediately call for medical help because he freaked out and didn’t know what to do, according to the release.

The child’s mother, Kristen Hopper, reportedly came home around 7 a.m. and saw the child’s injuries.

Johnson called his mother at about 8:30 a.m. and asked her to come to their home. Johnson’s mother arrived at about 9 a.m., and called an off-duty Troy police officer, who then sent first responders to the house.

Johnson has been charged with three counts of abuse of neglect of a child causing serious physical injury, and Hopper faces one count of the same charge. Johnson’s bail was set at $250,000, and Hopper’s at $100,000.

The infant has been placed in protective custody.

Shocking News: 6-Year-Old Boy And His Baby Brother Abandoned On Roadside By Their Mother

Locals recently found two little children abandoned by the roadside in Vietnam. Their mother reportedly dropped them off in the early morning saying that she had “to get petrol,” but never returned.

Two days before that, this 6-year-old boy and his baby brother were dropped off by their mother at the roadside around 5 a.m. who then deserted them after saying she was going to get petrol from across the road.

The Mother didn’t return for them, the Daily Mail reported.

Locals reportedly spotted the boy sitting on the ground beside his baby brother, who was lying in a red beer crate. “This morning outside the church a 2-month-old boy and his brother were abandoned on the street,” Nhu Goc, the local commune worker said.

Police in the area were notified and are searching for the parents.“The baby has currently been taken to hospital but anyone who knows information about the parents of the child please contact the ward. We hope donors can help the baby. Why anyone can leave them like this we don’t know. There is a risk the boys could have been kidnapped and sold while they were vulnerable,” Nhu Goc added.

Nguyen Thi Hong Chau, who’s the deputy director of the Board of Directors from Thu Duc Youth Village (LTNTD) said, “child protection heard crying right near the main gate of the village along Vo Van Ngan”.

“One boy who was six years old was in a state of panic, sat crying so hard, alongside the other boys [sic], two months old, in a red plastic basket. The boy recounts, when the sky was not bright, the mother transported by motorbike and put them on the roadside. She told them she was refueling but did not return,” added the deputy director.
