Texas Family Indicted In Death Of Toddler
A Texas mother and her parents have been indicted by a Harrison County grand jury in relation to the death of her 18-month-old son and negligence of his twin.
The 34-year-old mother, April Lynn Gibbons, who lives on the Harrison County side of Longview, was indicted on a murder charge. She also was indicted on charges of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence.
Her parents, Carla Darlene Evans (57) and Gary Mitchell Evans (60), were indicted on two counts of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence.
Gibbons’ indictment shows that on February 12, she caused her child to consume methadone, which eventually caused his death.
Officials at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said, at the time, that all of Gibbons’ 5 other children were removed and placed Child Protective Services custody.
