The following are child-related recalls by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for the month of April 2016.

1. Eleanor Rose children’s loungewear:

About 5,900 loungewear items have been recalled. The loungewear fails to meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children. Consumers should immediately take the recalled loungewear away from children and return it to Eleanor Rose for a merchandise credit towards the purchase of another Eleanor Rose product. 2. Fisher Price Cradle ‘n Swings:

About 34,000 Fisher Price Cradle ‘n Swings have been recalled due to a fall hazard. This includes three models: CHM84 Soothing Savanna Cradle ‘n Swing, CMR40 Sweet Surroundings Cradle ‘n Swing, and CMR43 Sweet Surroundings Butterfly Friends Cradle ‘n Swing. When the seat peg is not fully engaged the seat can fall unexpectedly, posing a risk of injury to the child. Fisher-Price has received two reports of a seat peg coming out from the seat, causing the seat to fall. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cradle swing and contact Fisher-Price for revised assembly instructions. Click here for more information.

3. Children’s LATTJO bat cape costumes:

About 11,000 LATTJO bat cape costumes in the U.S., in addition to 750 in Canada have been recalled by IKEA. The fabric hook and loop fastener at the neck of the bat cape can fail to detach readily during use, posing a strangulation hazard to children IKEA has received three reports outside of the United States of the fabric hook and loop fastener at the neck of the costume failing to detach readily and scratching children’s necks. Consumers are advised to immediately take the recalled bat capes away from children and return the capes to any IKEA store for a full refund. 4. Rainbow Play Systems plastic trapeze rings:

Due to lack of consumer response, Rainbow Play Systems has re-announced a recall affecting roughly 121,000 pairs of plastic trapeze rings. These rings can unexpectedly crack or break during use, posing a fall hazard to children. Consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled rings, contact Rainbow for ring removal instructions, then remove the rings from the playset and receive a $10 gift card. 5. Flying Tiger Copenhagen wooden toy blocks and giraffes:

Flying Tiger Copenhagen has recalled 1,000 wooden toy blocks and giraffes. Parts of the wooden toys can become detached, resulting in small pieces that can pose a choking hazard to young children. Consumers are advised to immediately take the recalled toys from young children and return the products to Flying Tiger Copenhagen for a full refund. Click here for more information.
