In the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster, stories like the woman who had a successful plan to protect her family from the blaze which engulfed the 24-storey block of flats in North Kensington, London brought some light to the tragedy.
These stories gave hope to many after the fire claimed 79 lives with more expected to be announced. One story, however, which told of a baby surviving 12 days on the 16th floor of the tower was named miraculous by many observers.
Although reported as breaking news, and was shared thousands of times, the story was, in fact, a hoax invented by social media users and fake news creators.

The site which shared the fake news story has been identified as fake, having recently shared fables about the discovery of a Nazi warship in a lake as well as a morgue worked being incinerated.
How cruel, to give people false hope and then swiftly crush their spirits.
