About 80 000 safety gates and safety gate extensions (and another 28,000 sold in Canada) have been recalled by IKEA. These “PATRULL KLÄMMA” safety gates were previously recalled in May 2015.
It has been recalled once again due to 55 reports of incidents worldwide, including 10 injuries which resulted in bruising and cuts. Four of these incidents took place in the U.S which resulted in cuts and bruising to children.
The recall is due to the locking mechanism which can open unexpectedly. This poses a fall hazard to children and other consumers.
