About 30 000 pounds of meat have been recalled nationwide due to concerns that it may be contaminated with “extraneous materials.”
The recall was issued by Washington Beef LLC on Saturday, saying it affects ground beef chubs produced on Dec. 27, 2018, which have a “use or freeze by” date of Jan. 20, 2019.
Approximately 30,260 pounds of ground beef are affected, says a news release posted on the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website.
This comes after a complaint about contamination from a consumer on Feb. 28, 2019. The release did not reference the kind of material found in the product.
The company said there have been no health reactions reported due to consumption of the products, however they are urging anyone with concerns should contact a health care provider.
The news release said:
“FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen in consumers’ freezers.Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
