A pregnant mother of one was gunned down in her bedroom with her 4-month-old baby boy sleeping next to her. And now her family is looking for answers.
According to NY Daily News, Amber Baker was killed while her four-month baby boy was next to her. Family members are completely puzzled as to why she was targeted.
She had been so happy after she received her tax refund.
Officers who arrived performed CPR until EMS got there and she was pronounced deceased there at the apartment.
The family are now mourning the loss of their 20-year-old daughter, sister, friend and mother as she was fatally shot while sleeping in bed with her 4-month-old son.
“And she bought her car the night before,” said Cassie Baker, who is Amber’s sister. “And the only thing I can think of is that everybody could see that she had money. Everybody knew she got her taxes back. Honestly, that’s the only thing I can think of because my sister was just too nice. She was too kindhearted, she loved everyone.”
Cassie also said that the night before the shooting, Amber invited friends over to the apartment that they shared with three other women, and the sisters had an argument. Cassie said she left with her son and later messaged her sister through Facebook, but never heard back.
“We are sad, mad and confused and out hearts are split wide open,” Baker’s father, Vance Baker, told People Magazine. “We can’t even focus on nothing but Amber. And this sad death to my daughter is so unfair.”
Authorities said that several people were in the apartment when they arrived and they have all been brought in for questioning.
Neighbors said moments before the shooting, they heard arguing coming from the apartment.
“From what we’ve heard so far, someone went into her room, an unknown male shot her,” Amber’s other sister Katie Martin said. “Somebody knows something and they’re not saying. And we just don’t understand why someone would take her life in the middle of the night.”
Police are now asking anyone with information to call the Fresno Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
Absolutely Heartbreaking.
