Two Daughters Die After Mom Shoots Them Over Argument

Yet another gun incident is making headlines and it involves an alleged family argument which has turned fatal, in Houston Texas this past weekend.

A mother has fatally shot her two daughters on a public street and then she too was shot dead by police.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the mother was 42-year-old Christy Sheats. The daughters were Madison (17) and Taylor (22).

Police Officers began to receive calls around 5.p.m on Friday afternoon, about shots being fired, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page.

When the responding officers arrived on the scene, one of the girls had already died on the street. The other sister was in a critical condition and was flown to a hospital but she did not make it.

After Christy Sheats refused to drop her weapon, a police officer was forced to take action and shot and killed her. No officers were injured in the incident.

According to reports, Christy’s husband and the girl’s father, Jason Sheats was not harmed and the motive of the incident is still under investigation. Authorities have however said that it appears to be a family dispute which turned into a shooting.

Christy Sheats’s Facebook page features pictures and special words of praise for her daughters. In September last year she posted:

Happy Daughter’s Day to my two amazing, sweet, kind, beautiful, intelligent girls. I love and treasure you both more than you could ever possibly know.”

Her Facebook page also says that she was a gun owner and vocal advocate for the second amendment. In March she posted the following on Facebook

It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away, but that’s exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns.”

As the mother of a Katy child that was shot and killed during an attempted home burglary it saddens me to see someone like you Haley Malan use the tragedy of a family like this to try and sway people’s opinions regarding guns. If I would have had a gun in my home my son may have had a fighting chance against the intruders that shot him. Criminals and mentally disturbed individuals will always find a way to act out against others. I pray you never have to know how it feels to lose a child and not have the ability to protect them.

This woman obviously had mental issues. To say she wanted to punish her husband by killing her daughters is definitely insane! The father wasn’t harmed, this woman should have been committed long ago. I’ve read other stories on this and they knew she had mental problems. Anyone out there who may know a loved one like this, even as hard as it may be, get them help before like these poor beautiful girls, it’s too late. R.I.P. GIRLS..

It doesn’t say why she did it. It actually isn’t clear if it was her shooting. Is there something I’m missing?

This is just so sad and the number one reason why guns should be outlawed. This women was innocent enough, loved her kid’s pry got in a nasty feud with them’ push comes to shove wanted to scare them, violence may have occured on both ends, then bam rage turns to death. All because some people think guns are protectors. They boost violence.

The real problem in this country is not only had a mental issues, the big problem is the GUNS in the streets and in the houses , in our lives! The People with mental problems you can not do the same damage with a semi-automatic firearm with the easy buying one in the corner of your house like buying bread, and in special are our children who are paying the price for our bad choices, especially when we choosing bad leaders.

Gee, I don’t know, but I think what she did certainly gives credence to what she said (above quote. What abut her daughters rights? “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” is a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence. The phrase gives three examples of the “unalienable rights” which the Declaration says has been given to all human beings by their Creator, and for which governments are created to protect. When you consider that the infantry weapons used in the American Revolutionary War were Brown Bess,Long rifles, Bayonet, Pattern 1776 Infantry Rifle, Ferguson rifle,Brown Bess Musket, Charleville musket,Tomahawk and Bow and Arrow, and the time the 2nd Amendment was written, I’m pretty certain that our Founding Fathers could never have dreamed of the weapons argued over today. The hypothesis that we need to own weapons for protection is countered by insurance rates, which go up if a family owns a gun. It has also been demonstrated time and time again that a gun owner is 100 to 1000 times more likely to accidently or in a fit of rage, kill another family member (such as that illustrated by this story) than a burglar. But, perhaps some guns can still be allowed, for all the itchy trigger fingers out there. Just not the Semi-automatic guns that have probably killed some of the brightest minds of our nation.

This is tragic no doubt. And she obviously has some sort of mental health problems that either haven’t been diagnosed yet or have been and she slipped through the cracks when she had her background check for her gun card.
My husband and myself are gun owners and my husband is a conceal and carry as well. In our state they check with your background check for mental health issues along with many other things. To see if something like this is any where near a possibility if you are to own a gun. Grant it anyone can go crazy at anytime and and be pushed to their limits. But never I mean never can I see something such as a mother shooting her children. I know it happens in the world and these mothers don’t deserve to have the gift of a child. If the child is newborn or 106 years old or older that’s your child you don’t hurt your child. Or your children period for one and another you don’t hurt another human with a gun period. I understand protecting your family. I also am a firm believer in a warning shot as well. Because the last thing I want to do is hurt someone. I wish more people thought like this and I also wish that when you went to get your gun card that they did a background check on your whole family that lives in your home. This way those who have children who are mentally ill don’t get their hands on your gun and go up to your place of work being a school or what ever and harm everyone who is in the building including their parent who they went after in the first place due to being off their meds. I just feel everyone needs to be looked at who lives in the home.
What happened here doesn’t mean take all guns away and from the responsible gun owners. Because there is such a thing and we haven’t done anything wrong and would never in our life harm our family and don’t even want to harm somone who is trying to rob is. So we shouldn’t be punished. The way to halfway solve the issue is make everyone have a evaluation beforehand and then as well as a background check on the person and then their family who is in the home. If any sign the smallest sign no card is to be issued what so ever. That would help a ton! But who am I I’m just one person who has a idea and who adores my family and who values human life I also value animal life. I will not hunt either I shoot targets at a gun range and so does my husband not to hurt anyone not to hunt just as a hobby. I wish people could understand that not all gun owners are like this evil evil woman. She deserved to be shot down I just wish her children made it and recovered instead of passed away. That is just unfair clearly the mom wanted to die otherwise she would’ve put that gun down. So she knew what she was doing in someway what a evil woman I can’t get over this.
