It’s the season of fun and sun, which usually includes crowded events such as festivals, theme parks, and carnivals. The thought of your child getting lost in a crowd is absolutely terrifying and most parents would do anything to prevent such an incident from occurring.
The Clovis Police Department recently shared a safety hack on Facebook, to manage kids in a crowd – and it has gone viral!
The tip on the page read as follows:
“Taking your young child to a big event, theme park, or other busy location? Write your phone number on their wrist and cover it with liquid band aid in case you get separated. Also, take a photo of them using your cell phone the morning of the event so you have their clothing, hair style, and up to date photo. #BePrepared”
The department also thanked the Beauty Blogger who initially posted the idea and photo.
In the bloggers post, she said
“I was thinking, you know, what would be a good way to keep Ana (my daughter) safer? What if she somehow slips out of my fingers and I lose her amongst the crowd? Now I’m very good at watching my daughter and keeping her with me at all times, but a mom worries all of the time! They always want their kids safe. So I came up with this idea which I personally think is amazing.”
Of course, prevention is better than cure so Parents should already have safety precautions in place should their child get lost in a crowd. An example of such precaution would be to teach your children to memorize their full name, address, and telephone as soon as they are able to remember.
Another would be for all family members to agree on a meeting spot once you arrive in the crowd. That way if one member wanders away, everyone can meet in the agreed place.
The safety hack recommended by the Californian Police Department should be an additional measure to the ones your family already practices.
