Mom Finds Old Stranger In Her Child`s Room And Shoots Him Dead

Portland Police are investigating an incident where a Mother of 2, allegedly shot and killed an intruder she found in one of her children’s bedroom early hours of Sunday morning.

The woman, Tara-Alexis Ford, was returning home with her two children, aged 5 and 10, when she noticed the man inside her home.

She allegedly used her handgun and shot the male intruder.

The Portland Police Bureau released a statement which said:

On Sunday June 26, 2016, at 1:47 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 4100 block of Southeast 118th Place on the report that a homeowner shot someone inside her home”

“Officers and medical personnel arrived and contacted the homeowner, who directed them inside the home. Inside the home, officers found a deceased male.”

The Portland Police have confirmed that the suspect who was killed early Sunday morning, has been identified as 59-year-old David Daniel McCrary of Gresham.

There is no known connection between Ford and McCrary. 

Police also confirmed that McCrary had no significant criminal history but he may have been struggling with mental issues recently.

According to detectives, McCrary broke into Ford’s home through a back window.

The shooting occurred in Ford’s 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom, the same room she had found McCrary in. The children were in the home at the time of the shooting but were in a different bedroom.

Ford has not been arrested and the Portland Police Bureau posted an updated report regarding the incident on its website that said:

Ms. Ford remains cooperative with detectives and the case will be reviewed by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.  Ms. Ford is asking for privacy and does not want any media contact.”
