A 7-year-old is in the hospital being treated for a fractured jaw after his mom says a school tutor threw the student against the wall.
Baltimore City Schools, school police, and Baltimore City Police are all investigating to see if the aide will face any criminal charges.
Travon Grayson has a fractured jaw, two missing teeth and another pushed into his gums. His mother, Lateekqua Jackson said, “I looked in the ambulance and there’s my son, his face big, mouth bloody. I turned to the man, ‘I said, ‘This isn’t regular restraint.’”
The tutor is an employee of the City Springs Elementary School charter operator, Baltimore Curriculum Project. He told police he physically removed Travon from class for being disruptive. He carried the child out when, according to reports, he lost his footing and Travon “hit himself” on the wall.
“He can’t throw himself into the wall and fracture his jaw and lose his teeth,” Jackson said “He’s only 7 years old. He’s so small he’s not going to do the damage to himself.”
Detectives are reviewing school surveillance footage but it’s still unclear how the child was injured.
