Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a term which every new parent will be familiar with. Baby books and magazines, as well as medical professionals will give you lots of advice when it comes to putting your baby down to sleep. There are warnings about putting your baby down to sleep on their tummy or the use of cot bumpers to prevent a baby from suffocating.
Now there’s a new hazardous issue related to baby cribs and it involves putting two of them too close together.
A mom of twins has recently shared a photo of her children’s cribs in the hopes of letting other parents know about their almost-tragic moment.
Mother of three, Alison Johnson recently walked into a dreadful scene in her twins’ room.
Just like many parents of children who are close in age, Alison and her husband decided to set up their twins’ cribs side-by-side.
A few minutes after putting one of the twins down for a nap one morning, she heard him crying and went back in the room to check on him. What Alison saw next, would haunt her forever.
Her son was on the brink of hanging himself because of the placement of the two cribs.
It appeared that he had climbed out of his crib and was stuck between the two cribs. His body fit through the gap, but his head wouldn’t and had to hold himself up by his little arms. If those little arms couldn’t hold out any longer, he would’ve just been hanging there by his head.
If he’s Mom didn’t come back in the room when she did, the outcome could have been so much worse.
In her post she shared on Facebook which was shared by many concerned parents across the country, she stated. “When baby proofing, I never in a million years would have seen this as a potential danger.”
If your young children are sharing a room – do take caution when setting up their cribs.
I have a lot of friends that have twins or kids close in age that may have a similar set up, so I wanted to share…
