A Cincinnati Mom, Cornelia Reynolds is going through absolute hell since she recently found her child’s lifeless body.
“My son hung himself,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds found her only child, Gabriel Taye – just 8-years-old, in his bedroom. This happened just shortly after she picked him up from Carson Elementary in Price Hill.
“I was in the living room at the kitchen table, and I went back to check on my son and I found him hanging from his bunk bed,” Reynolds said.
One of his teachers described Gabriel as a model student who loved to learn and make friends.
Reynolds finds that hard to believe and says that her son spent a lot of time in the school’s nurse’s office. There were some days where he simply wanted to stay home.
Reynolds believes that those were signs he was bullied by other students. The Mom also feels that he couldn’t or didn’t want to talk about it.
“I guess he didn’t know how to tell me stuff was happening,” Reynolds said. “Him going to the nurse’s station or him not wanting to go to school, that was his way of trying to communicate with me. That was his way. He probably didn’t want to say, ‘Ma, somebody’s bullying or picking on me,’ you know? He just didn’t know how to tell me.”
Officials are still trying to understand what exactly happened and will continue discussing the situation with teachers and staff at Carson Elementary.
District Leaders of Cincinnati Public School sent a letter to the parents of students at Carson Elementary on Friday. They noted the incident as what “a very sad situation” involving what the school described as the “accidental death” of one of their students.
