No parent likes the idea of their child sitting in detention. Usually, detention equates to staying late after school to sit in a classroom, supervised by a teacher. But for 8-year-old Allegra, it meant something a lot different.

When Allegra’s Mother, Connie, got a call from the local elementary school saying that her daughter was in detention, she was upset with her daughter. When she went to pick her daughter up from the punishment, she got really upset with the school.

She found her daughter Allegra serving detention not in a classroom, but in what she calls a “jail cell.”

The school called the 2×4-foot area a “detention room,” however, Connie thinks it’s much more cruel than that.

Connie also believes that her daughter shouldn’t have been in detention in the first place. The school say s that the 8-year-old apparently threatened another student while her Mother insists that she was standing up for herself against a mean bully.

Even if little Allegra was rightfully in detention, Connie says the conditions she’d been kept in were completely unacceptable. She had apparently “been crying for hours.”

Since the incident occurred, Connie says Allegra has been sick for three days and that she is “traumatized.”

According to NIH, babies are particularly susceptible to the dangers of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. Lead has been shown to be a cause of brain damage, low IQ, developmental disabilities, and an impaired nervous system.

It can also be poisonous to the kidneys, bones, reproductive, and respiratory system, cadmium is also classified as a carcinogen. Lead is commonly found in the earth and batteries.

The chemical Bisphenol-A (BPA) is commonly found in plastic and is connected to a number of health issues, including heart, fertility, and endocrine system problems.

Acrylamide and arsenic may be introduced into the body through food or drinking water.

With acrylamide, symptoms usually affect the nervous system and skin. Arsenic toxicity may be quite sneaky, but affects the organs and is also a carcinogen.

10% tested positive for acrylamide

36% tested positive for lead

58% tested positive for cadmium

65% tested positive for arsenic

60% of products with a “BPA-Free” claim tested positive

Out of the 86 baby formula products the group tested, these were in the bottom five:

• NurturMe Carrots, Raisins and Sweet Potatoes Organic Dried Baby Food
• Gerber 3rd Foods Mixed Carrots, Corn and Butternut Squash with Lil’ Bits

Of 138 baby food pouches tested, these made the bottom five list:
