A police officer in Oklahoma is doing his best to look after two sisters who have been left traumatized by the death of their parents. One of the little girls has been running away from school on a daily basis, so officer Popsey Floyd, of the Tulsa Police Department decided to step in.

Since the death of their parents, 6-year-old Ivey and her older sister, 11-year-old Eve have been living with their grandmother. However, both girls are understandably unsettled and devastated at the loss of their parents.

Ivey is having behavioral issues which have apparently been causing tension amongst the family. However, once officer Floyd found about this, he has been working hard trying to help her and her family.

Taking to Facebook, Floyd shared the story with his friends. “There is a six year old girl who witnessed her mother (and father) getting killed a couple of months ago. Since then she has been trying to run away from school almost daily. She has a beautiful soul and she is really missing her mom right now,” he writes.

He explained that “She is currently living with her grandmother. She told me today that all she wants is cookies in cream ice cream. We made a deal, if she stops trying to run away from school, my wife and I will bring her ice cream.”

The sisters are struggling, especially with this being the first Christmas they will spend without their parents so Floyd has been working hard with the police department to give the girls and their grandmother an enjoyable holiday experience.

The Tulsa PD has already given the family a Christmas tree and Floyd has asked the local communities to help out as much as possible.

“Tulsa I would like to give this little princess the best Christmas ever. I would love to have you come with me and surprise her family with love and gifts. Bring a gift for a six year old girl, and or the grandmother. We want to show the grandmother that she has a support system as well,” he said.

His post has been shared almost 250 times with hundreds of likes and comments from well-wishers wanting to get involved. Floyd has even started an Amazon Wish list for stuff he thinks the girls might like. Many commenters have also shared their gift ideas for the sisters.

Obviously, Christmas is going to be a very tough time for the girls regardless; however, Floyd hopes that all his effort might help the siblings feel a little bit better if just for a day.

If you would like to show your support or get involved in some way to surprise the girls, Floyd says “We will meet at Tulsa Police Riverside Division parking lot, located at 7515 S Riverside Pkwy Tulsa, OK 74136 at 5 p.m. on December 18, (Monday).”

He has encouraged anyone who can to participate and has said that all gifts will go directly to the girls. If you would like to look at the Amazon Wish List you can do so here: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/5P7ANZKFGMBD
