What better way to calm a crying baby?
Breastfeeding Moms know that nursing is usually the answer – but what if it’s your wedding and you are just about to say “I do”?
That’s exactly what a Montreal bride had to face on the day she married her childhood crush but without hesitating, she cradled her little baby girl to her breast and nursed her in the front bench of the church.
The Mom, Christina Torino-Benton, had been nervous that her baby might fuss during the nuptials and about 15 minutes into the ceremony, the little one began to cry.
Christina was naturally distracted by the child’s cries and knew that the ceremony could not continue until the baby was settled…
The Mom done what came naturally, asked for her baby to be brought to her, and luckily she was able to quickly manoeuvre herself out of her strapless ball gown.
The priest simply carried on with the ceremony and the guests continued to listen. In no time, the baby was asleep and the ceremony continued without a delay.
The wedding photographer captured the special moment while the bride was breastfeeding her baby at the ceremony, and Christina posted a photo of the moment to the Breastfeeding Mama Page on Facebook and said
“I was pretty stressed out thinking about her being so upset. I was happy to take her and I was able to calm her down. I was feeling pretty proud of myself. Fighting that good fight!”
The public feedback was extremely positive and since the post, other Mom’s have posted pictures of them nursing on their wedding day, on the Facebook Page.
Just like the subject of other breastfeeding photos that have gone viral on social media, Christina hopes her photo will aid in the fight to normalize public breast-feeding.
