A 24-year-old in Oklahoma has been charged with the murder of a toddler.

The baby suffered seriously ruthless injuries after be had been slammed into a wall so hard a hole was made just because he would not go to sleep, according to police.

Zachary Collins, a 24-year-old-man from Tulsa was arrested on Saturday for child abuse and neglect. He allegations were throwing his girlfriend’s baby into furniture until the child was quiet and unconscious in his babysitting Friday night

“Children look for adults and parents to take care of them, and in this situation that didn’t happen, and it’s a tragedy,” Tulsa Police Officer Jeanne Mackenzie said.

Collins confessed to police officers including MacKenzie that he slammed the child into furniture and beat him because he wouldn’t go to sleep.

At that point, he punched the child in the stomach and threw him against the wall so hard that there was a hole” she added.

Collins even tried to accuse another child of causing the baby’s injuries, claiming a 3-year-old pushed the toddler off the bed.

However, investigators said the injuries were too severe for a girl to cause, and Collins eventually admitted he was the one who committed the brutal assault.

The night the crime happened, Collins had already drunk a six pack of beer and a half pint of tequila, the Tulsa World reported.

The child was said to be in critical condition with less than 50 percent chance of survival after taken to the hospital, before dying on Monday morning.

Collins had his charges subsequently upgraded to murder, since he has already involved in a separate domestic assault case.

Collins’ act of crime has provoked fury to the community, many demanded that Collins be subjected to appropriate penalties.

Mackenzie said that this tragedy is a reminder for adults dealing with young children to keep their cool.

They look up to their parents and their caretakers for protection and safety, and if you can’t take care of them and you get frustrated then you need to take a step back,” she said.
