This Baby Is Less Than A Month Old And Already Survived Two Hurricanes!

Gabriella Coane was born to be a storm chaser!

Gabriella — who is less than a month old — has already survived two massive storms.

Just a week after Gabriella’s birth on Aug. 20, Hurricane Harvey slammed Texas. As the floodwaters raised, the baby and her parents, Jessica and Bruce Coane, took shelter at home.

“We heard that Harvey was coming and we just hunkered down in our apartment here in Houston,” Bruce Coane told reporters.

However, reports of toxic fumes and exploding chemical plants near the city made the family reconsider their hurricane plans. They loaded the six-pound, 15-ounce girl into her car seat and headed to their second home, a condo in Miami.

They drove to Dallas, spent a night, then went on their way to Destin, Fla. The following day they travelled another 10 hours to Miami — and into Irma’s eventual path.

Bruce Coane, a longtime Miami resident, wasn’t too concerned about the coming Category 4 hurricane, People reported.

However, concerned friends convinced them to flee once again.

After another long drive, diaper changes in the car and feedings at the gas station, the family eventually found a hotel. They stayed the night in Atmore, a small town in Alabama.

Finally, after crossing five states and 3,000 miles, the family made it back to Houston on September 11.

She’s a trooper,” Jessica Coane told reporters. “She has no excuses now. She did this at three weeks old. She has no excuses for anything.”

Newborn Hurricane Harvey Survivor Has Photo Shoot On The Boat That Saved Her

When this baby’s parents named her Hope, they had no idea she would come to be a symbol of just that for many in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Hope Chimeno dozes on the same rescue boat that saved her from Hurricane Harvey’s floodwaters.

Hope Chimeno was just 10 days old when she and her family boarded a rescue boat to escape the floodwaters surging through their hometown of Orange, Texas. Brothers Cris and Clint Sanford of the Cajun Navy whisked the Chimenos to safety in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Upon arrival, Katy Sanford, Cris’ wife, asked the family if they had taken newborn photos yet. Naturally, a photo shoot was the last thing on their minds — but Sanford insisted on connecting the Chimenos with her friend, photographer Noelle Mills.

“She texted me and asked if I would be willing to take pictures of the family,” Mills, 32, told TODAY. For Mills, herself a busy PR professional and mother of two, it was a no-brainer.

“I had to ask myself, ‘What’s most important right now? To give to this family who could have lost so much,’” Mills explained. “I don’t have a lot of time or money, but what I can give is my photography.”

“Here she was, outside, in a onesie, on a metal boat, in a life jacket, and she was wonderful,” said Mills of baby Hope.

Sanford arranged for the rescue boat and traditional life vests to be used as props, and the photo shoot took place on Labor Day.

“(Hope) was an angel,” said Mills. “I’ve done several newborn shoots, and it’s not easy because the child can be tiring, and you’re working hard to keep them still. … Here she was, outside, in a onesie, on a metal boat, in a life jacket, and she was wonderful. It was an extra treat.”

Mills also took a few more traditional shots of the Chimeno family.

Mills’ sweet photos have spread quickly online. While she’s flattered by the response, she’s not surprised that the images have resonated with many.

“It’s a story of triumph,” said Mills. “In a heavy time, she’s a ray of sunshine.”
