According to Science, Short Wives and Tall Husbands Have the Best Marriages

I don’t consider myself to be a very tall person, but I ain’t no shorty, either. In fact, I’m pretty much an average when it comes to the height department (but I would rather not say when it comes to the weight).

According to Science, Short Wives and Tall Husbands Have the Best Marriages

My husband on the other hand is actually quite tall. Like, literally. He towers over most people that we know and it looks like thanks to his Jolly Green Giant genes, our children might end up surpassing me in height. Still, I’m not complaining. In fact, a new study actually found that says short wives who marry tall husbands have very happy marriages (and uber exciting sex lives).
Ok, the second part might have been an exaggeration (or was it), but it looks like your and your partner’s height plays a crucial role in the happiness factor.

Height Requirements

Dr Kitae Sohn, from Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea, had a study that found when it comes to married couples, height has a lot to do with happiness. It said that the happiness of the wife was directly related to a taller husband. But these effects eventually fade in a marriage. What a bummer!

Size Matters

Dr Sohn explained in the journal Personality and Individual Differences “Although it has been known that women prefer tall men in mating for evolutionary reasons, no study has investigated whether a taller husband makes his wife happier”. She continued “A greater height difference in a couple was positively related to the wife’s happiness.”
He added that the relationship between height and happiness gradually weakened over time and by 18 years of marital duration, it would be completely dissipated.

Critics & Comments

Of course, the Internet had a lot to say about this study. People either agree or disagree with the research. Some comments have included:
“Primal desire to propagate taller offspring is more powerful than we realize. Sorry short guys.”
“That’s just great. Where am I going to find a three foot tall woman…?” said another.
“I’m 5’3 and my ex husband is 6’4. I’m currently in a relationship with a man 5’7 and never been so happy in relationship.” another commenter added. “It depends on the soul connection not physical height.”

Your Thoughts

I would have to go with a lot of the critics saying height in this matter is nothing but a number. But then again, I know what I’m attracted to. Taller guys have always found their way into my heart and that’s one of the reasons why I married my husband. Surely personality is no less an important factor, but you have to be attracted to the guy if you want to make your marriage work, too! It’s not like we’re walking around with our eyes closed here, right? How about you? Do share your thought with us, too!

But the amount of hard work, good luck, digital wizardry and skill that goes into creating a perfect photograph are easy to forget, and only when you try to recreate them for yourself do you realize that, well, it is really more than meet the eyes.
