There are over 2000 comments on the post, where some people are expressing their discomfort at seeing the baby appearing to be struggling, whilst others are praising the parents’ approach.

The clip is almost 2 minutes long and it shows how the little girl is enticed into the water and then falls face down into the pool. She struggles for a bit and then rolls on to her back and floats. At the end of the video a woman lifts the little girl out of the water and says “I’ve got you, baby.”

The Mother of the baby girl, Keri Morrison, is determined to have her youngest daughter learn to swim after the accidental drowning of her 2.5-year-old son 3 years ago. Keri does not want history to repeat itself and wants her daughter to be as safe as possible.

The technique used in the video is called Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) and children as young as 6 months old can learn how to “self-rescue.” Babies are trained to roll onto their backs – to float, rest and breathe, and uphold that position until help arrives. Each session lasts about 10 minutes and a baby would need about five sessions a week for about 4 to 6 weeks to learn the technique.

awesome work sweet baby. Obviously the baba has been introduced to this method already and she was comfortable in the water – I saw no trauma happening . Definitely better than the alternative.

Babies came from a body of water. Living in the uterus for 9 months. I’ve read how babies are great at surviving in water after they are born. It’s just when we get older do we forget, panic n anxiety occurs unless rd-taught how to do this.
