toddler shot in drive-by

Cleveland Police has confirmed that a two-year-old girl has been shot in a drive-by shooting.

The incident happened around 7pm on Friday night, on Cleveland’s East Side.

The child was outside with her mother when the unknown driver opened fire and struck her in the head and arm.

“All I saw was her holding her baby saying, ‘My baby got shot,’ ” said witness Shantay Rucker.

“It was definitely a drive-by. She had her baby in her arms when it happened”

The girl, who was in an unstable condition, was taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.  She underwent several hours of surgery before being admitted to the hospitals intensive care unit.

No arrests have been made, however, Police Officers are following up on leads.

It’s not the first drive-by shooting incident on Cleveland’s East side where a child has been injured, in fact, last year 3 children under the age of 5 were killed within a matter of a month in drive-by shootings.
