How Pinning A Note On A Child’s Car Seat Can Save Their Life

A paramedic is urging all parents to put a card on the back of their child’s seat which lists their name, address, parents’ names as well as any medical conditions they may have.

The reason for this recommendation is quite simple.

When an emergency occurs, the first responders will immediately know all of the child’s basic details if their parents are unable to tell them or are preoccupied.

‘Way too often we come upon a car wreck with child(ren) in the car who are too young to have any info and parents are unconscious,’ the paramedic said, according to Practical Parenting.

‘It takes two minutes of your time to write out your child’s name, DOB, parents’ names, emergency contacts and any medical conditions, any meds your child is on and even the child’s doctor, then stick it to the child’s car seat.’

The anonymous ambulance attendant mentioned that this addition to the car on a road trip could ‘save a child’s life’.

People  who have seen the post on social media has praised the idea for its simplicity and potential effectiveness.

Some of the commenters said:

‘Something to consider. Hopefully it will never be needed,’ another said.

“Touch wood we never have to be in this situation but this is a very good idea,’ one person said.

Another person urged those without kids to remove the ‘baby on board’ stickers on their vehicle.

‘If there was an accident firefighters may be looking for a baby who was never there to start off with,‘ they said.

Others questioned whether putting your home address was a good idea, especially if the car is taken by a kidnapper or through theft – however agreed that the medical information was important.
