On New Cut Road near West Indian Trail in Louisville, a truck hit the front of a house.

Thankfully, nobody was injured.

A 10 year-old-girl controlled the car and admitted doing it on purpose.

“It sounded like a bomb went off,” said Joshua Pate, whose home was damaged. “Everybody was in shock. Everybody’s still in shock.”

Pate had just come home from work at around 2:30 on Friday afternoon when the incident happened.

Five children were sitting in the living at that time and Pate thinks the couch has saved their lives.

“The loveseat slid around and made the kind of like a barrier … the back of it is kind of high and I think the kids just slid with the loveseat,” Pate said.

The driver was not injured but Pate heard her talking with the police after they arrived on scene.

(The officer) couldn’t believe what she said. He was like ‘excuse me?’ and she said, ‘I wanted to kill people,’ and he said ‘I’m sorry, what did you say?’ and she said, ‘I wanted to kill people,” Pate said.

Seconds before, Kristina Bryan was driving north on New Cut Road when the truck slammed into her vehicle. Her car started to spin several times.

“When I heard it was a 10-year-old girl my first reaction should have been ‘is she OK?’ but when I looked down there she was walking from the truck to get into the back of a cop car, I knew she was OK,” said Bryan, who was injured. “Where were the parents when this little girl even got into the car? How did this little girl even get access to the keys?”

Pate has the same question….

His family is finding a home to live in for at least a month until the current house is being repaired. Luckily, the Red Cross has stepped in to help.

Pate forgives the girl, but wants an apology from the family of the girl. “All we want is an apology from the family, pretty much. We haven’t heard from them and haven’t heard from anybody,” he said.

Both Pate and Bryan say they plan to take legal action against the girl’s family.

The investigation is still being carried out by LMPD.
